In his honor, she has expanded outreach initiatives, launched recovery housing and community centers, and hosts annual community events that raise awareness around mental health, substance use, police accountability, and the systemic barriers faced by marginalized communities. She leverages every platform available—from clinical leadership and public speaking to advocacy and legislative engagement—to ensure his legacy continues to save lives.
A celebrated creative, Dr. Mya has written, directed, and produced more than twenty motion films in less than three years through A Mya Speller Film Inc., including the Emmy-nominated documentary Broken Pieces: The Nygil M. Educationally, Dr. Mya holds a bachelor's degree from North Carolina A&T State University, a master's degree from Capella University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Advanced Studies & Human Behavior. Yet it is her lived experience, service, and unwavering commitment to people that define her most. Today, Dr. Mya Speller Cullins continues to lead with impact across Georgia and North Carolina, raising the bar for behavioral health services, empowering families, uplifting communities, and speaking on behalf of those who would otherwise have no voice.
